CLINICAL VIGNETTE POSTER SESSIONS

NASPGHAN recognizes the importance of patient-related clinical information in furthering knowledge and approaches to diverse problems in the management of pediatric gastrointestinal disorders. Accordingly, a separate abstract category of Clinical Vignettes will again be held this year. This poster session will permit the submission of interesting clinical cases, or case reports that: 1) describe new clinical problems; 2) demonstrate important teaching points; or 3) amplify clinical experiences. Submitted abstracts might include the presentation of interesting or challenging cases, discussion of a new or incompletely understood clinical problem, or consideration of a treatment protocol that differs from traditional approaches. Clinical Case Reports should only be submitted to the Clinical Vignettes section. They will be rejected if submitted to the Scientific Abstracts section.

Accepted submissions will be presented as posters, encouraging informal and collegial discussion. Clinical vignette abstracts will be integrated with other poster sessions, subdivided by appropriate organ/disease category. By sharing important clinical experiences in a meaningful and instructive format, we encourage practicing pediatric gastroenterologists and fellows-in-training to consider a submission to this session. All abstracts will be reviewed and selected by the clinical vignettes subcommittee of the Clinical Care and Quality Committee.

VIDEO ABSTRACTS

Outstanding video submissions will be featured during a  session at this year’s Annual Meeting. The focus is on cutting-edge techniques and unusual cases in GI endoscopy. Accepted authors will present their video live and then have 1-2 minutes to answer questions.

The NASPGHAN Video Symposium is designed to showcase interesting endoscopic cases or techniques in the field of gastrointestinal endoscopy. Programs can demonstrate accepted techniques, difficult or interesting cases, complications or innovations within the field of endoscopy. Program should focus on interesting and novel cases or techniques in the field of pediatric endoscopy. All entries must be oriented toward physician rather than patient education.

Submissions should demonstrate an individual technique or case or series of cases and should be between 3-5 minutes in length (it cannot exceed 5 minutes). Accepted videos will be narrated DURING the playing of the video. (Video played at NASPGHAN will not have sound).

You are limited to videos of 100MB in size. Click HERE  for additional detailed format and submission requirements.

Poster Presentation Information
If your poster is accepted you will be emailed details in early August. Please consult the final program for your location and poster board number. A designated author is expected to be present at the poster session on the allotted day/time:
Poster Session I: Thursday, October 5, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Poster Session II: Friday, October 6, 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Poster Session III: Saturday, October 7, 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
We cannot change the day of your presentation.

If you have two posters in this session, every effort will be made to place them in proximity to one another.

Suggestions for preparing posters are included below.  Posters are displayed on fiberboard panels measuring 4 ft x 8 ft and should be designated so that titles, legends, graphs, and illustrations can be read easily at a distance of 4-6 ft.  Your cooperation in following the enclosed recommendations will help maintain the high standards of our meeting.

You do need to register for the meeting to gain access to your poster space. The program details will be on line at https://members.naspghan.org/annualmeeting . You will also information on how to register online starting in June, and how to book your hotel room on the NASPGHAN website.   Please note that the early bird registration deadline is August 31, 2023.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR POSTER PRESENTATION
A poster session comprises simultaneous information presentations by several investigators.  The presenters remain in a fixed location for the specified time period and discuss their research personally with interested individuals, using graphs, diagrams, and photographs, affixed to a 4 x 8 foot poster board to illustrate and communicate their findings.  In a sense, one can think of it as a Science Fair or as browsing through an art museum with the advantage of having the artist explain his or her work to you.

The poster board area is 4' high and 8' wide.  Prepare a label for the top of your poster space indicating the title and authors of your presentation.  The lettering for the label should not be less than 1 1/2".  We will provide a printed "number" identifying each station.

All illustrations should be made up beforehand.  Remember that your illustrations must be read from distances of 3 - 5 feet or more.  Charts, drawings, and illustrations should be similar to those you would use in making slides, but more heavily drawn.  Do not mount them on heavy board because they may be difficult to keep in position on the poster boards.  Hand-lettered material should contain heavy lettering approximately 1" high for minor titles (i.e. questions, methods, conclusions, etc.) and all printing should be a minimum of 1/2".  Do not use normal "typewriter-size" type.  Keep illustrated and written materials simple.  One or two authors should be in attendance at each poster during the presentation time.  Do not allow yourself to be monopolized for an inordinate period of time by a single individual.

We also want to share a new and more interactive way of preparing a poster presentation: https://tinyurl.com/y4lq34fw

A packet containing pushpins will be available.  Please do not write or paint on the poster boards.
