The APGNN Membership Committee coordinates a variety of activities. These include approval of all membership applications received through the NASPGHAN office, providing access to the APGNN website, retention and recruitment of members, as well as publicizing and awarding conference scholarships, mentoring and excellence in practice awards.
We work closely with the NASPGHAN office where applications are processed and an annual directory is formatted and distributed to all members.
The current focus of the membership committee includes outreach to new and renewing members through personal contact and two incentive programs. Nurses who identify as pediatric GI focused as members of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) but are not currently members of APGNN are contacted and invited to join APGNN under a joint membership agreement between APGNN and NAPNAP. This agreement offers a 20% dues discount to colleagues who join both organizations.
New in 2016 is a buy 3, get one membership free institutional group payment option for both new and renewing members. This incentive is for nurses from the same institution who submit applications and invoices together with a single payment.
This committee also publicizes APGNN during the NASPGHAN annual meetings at a membership booth in the exhibit hall.
Also new in 2016 is the Excellence in Nursing Practice Award. This is an opportunity for an APGNN member in good standing to nominate a colleague that excels in the care of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition patients. This $250 award will be presented at the at the APGNN annual meeting.
